Bioidentical Hormones

What are they?

Hormones that are EXACTLY like yours. They are NOT like the pharmaceutical hormones with extra chemical groups added on to them so that Big Pharma can trademark them as their own creations. Who knows what effects these artificial hormones can cause.

Hormones form the basis of almost all of our day to day bodily functions, growth, maintenance of our tissues, muscles and bone, our organs and our Brain! Our intimate relationships also suffer with the loss of couple intimacy.

Many people who are diagnosed with depression, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, sexual dysfunction are just hormone deficient.

Women are really left behind here in the U.S. – there are NO FDA-approved pharmaceutical testosterone replacement products for women here! Did you know that 40% of a woman’s hormonal chemistry is Testosterone? Yes, women have WAY less T than men, but they still need it! Women first decline in Testosterone in their late twenties/thirties when they become heavier in the mid section and lose libido, get joint pains and get grouchy. Then they start in their later thirties and forties to decline in Estrogen, which gives them photoflashes and sweats, dry thin skin and hair. Testosterone is the “Feel Good” hormone.

  • This data on risk was extracted from the WHI and Nurse’s Studies which were flawed, skewed towards an older population and overall misinterpreted.
  • *These studies were NOT bioidentical (natural) hormones-they were done with premarin and prempro which are pharmaceuticals that have extra chemical groups on their molecules!
  • There are MANY studies done since then, showing the many benefits (and low risks for most) of hormone replacement.

How does BHRT work?

There are different forms to take BHRT: creams, sublingual lozenges, pills, injections and pellets.

Pellets are considered the gold standard because they last the longest and don’t have daily or weekly fluctuations. They also are not processed through the liver, which is where the danger/risk with (synthetic) hormones can come into play.

Pellets are placed through a tiny incision into the fat of your glutes and last 3-4 months (for women) and up to 6 months for men. It is a very comfortable procedure that takes about 10-15 minutes. There is no downtime. The only restrictions is no leg exercises for a week and no pools/jacuzzi/bathtub for the same.
